This Cookie Policy explains how gridcraft.cloud (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://www.gridcraft.cloud (the “Site”), what they do, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly how we handle information.
Effective date: 17 September 2026.
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember choices you have made, and to help site operators understand how their pages are used.
Cookies can be classified in two ways:
- By lifetime: session cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or you delete them.
- By who sets them: first-party cookies are set by the site you are visiting, while third-party cookies are set by another domain whose services the site uses, such as an analytics or advertising provider.
Cookies are not programs and cannot run code or carry viruses. Similar technologies — such as pixels, web beacons, local storage, and tags — work in comparable ways; where this policy says “cookies,” it covers those technologies too.
2. Who Sets Cookies on This Site
- First-party cookies are set by gridcraft.cloud itself. These are used to make the Site function and to remember your preferences.
- Third-party cookies may be set by external services whose content or functionality is loaded on our pages. On this Site that can include Google and other advertising partners, where advertisements are displayed, and providers of security and infrastructure services such as our content delivery network.
We do not control third-party cookies. Each provider’s own cookie and privacy notice governs how it uses them, and the opt-out tools in Section 7 let you manage many of them directly.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Site to work and cannot be switched off through the Site. They cover things such as routing your request to the correct server, keeping the Site secure, protecting forms against abuse, and remembering the language you selected. Because the Site cannot function reliably without them, they are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website.
3.2 Preference and functionality cookies
These remember the choices you make — most importantly, which language version of the Site you are reading — so that you are not asked to make the same selection again on every page. If you remove them, the Site will still work, but your preference will be forgotten.
3.3 Analytics and performance cookies
These help a site operator understand how visitors use the Site — which pages are read, how long people stay, and how they move between pages — so that content and performance can be improved. They are not used to identify you personally.
3.4 Advertising cookies
Where advertisements are displayed on the Site, our advertising partners — principally Google — may set cookies and similar identifiers to serve those advertisements, to limit how often the same advertisement is shown to you, and to measure how advertisements perform. Advertising cookies may be used to build a picture of your interests based on your visits to this and other websites. Section 5 explains this in more detail and tells you how to opt out.
4. Cookies Currently in Use
We list what is actually deployed rather than what is theoretically possible, and we update this list when the Site changes.
Set by gridcraft.cloud:
pll_language— a functional, first-party cookie set by the Site. It records which language version you are reading (English or Spanish) so that the correct one is served on your next visit. Typical lifetime: 1 year. It contains no personal information.
Set by our infrastructure provider:
- Our content delivery network and hosting provider may set short-lived security cookies used to distinguish genuine visitors from automated traffic and to protect the Site against abuse. These are strictly necessary.
Set by third parties:
- At the effective date of this policy, the Site loads no third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising scripts, so no third-party cookies are set. When advertising or analytics is enabled, the relevant cookies described in Sections 3.3 and 3.4 will be set by those providers, and this section will be updated to name them.
5. Advertising Cookies and Google AdSense
5.1 How advertising cookies work here
Grid Craft is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display advertisements, and Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve advertisements on our Site. This allows Google and its partners to serve advertisements to you based on your visit to our Site and to other websites on the internet.
5.2 Third-party vendors and partner sites
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on a user’s prior visits to this website and other websites. This means that an advertisement you see may relate to pages you have previously viewed elsewhere. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also collect information about advertisement impressions and interactions so that advertisers can measure performance.
5.3 DART and similar advertising identifiers
Google has used a technology known as the DART cookie to serve advertisements based on visits to this and other sites. The precise technology in use changes as Google updates its systems and policies, but the principle is unchanged: identifiers held by advertising providers may be used to associate browsing activity with interests, so that advertisements can be more relevant. You can read Google’s own explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
5.4 Advertising we do not sell
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not permit advertisers to influence which tools we build, what a tool calculates, or what a guide says. Advertising pays for the Site; it does not shape the arithmetic.
6. Analytics
If we deploy an analytics service, it will use cookies or similar technologies to collect aggregated information about how the Site is used — such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring pages, and time spent. Analytics data is used to understand which tools and guides are useful and where pages underperform. It is not used to build a profile of you as an individual, and it is never used to change what a calculator returns.
7. How to Control Cookies
7.1 Browser controls
Every major browser lets you view the cookies stored on your device and block or delete them. The help pages for the most common browsers are here:
If you block all cookies, calculators will still work — the arithmetic runs in your browser — but the Site may forget your language preference and some preferences may reset on each visit.
7.2 Opting out of personalised advertising
You can manage or turn off personalised advertising using these independent tools:
- Google My Ad Center: https://myadcenter.google.com/ — review and adjust how Google personalises advertisements.
- AboutAds: https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ — opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.
- Network Advertising Initiative: https://optout.networkadvertising.org/ — the NAI opt-out page for participating advertisers.
- Your Online Choices (European users): https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/
Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising altogether. Advertisements may still appear; they will simply be less tailored to your interests.
8. Consent, Legal Bases, and Your Choices
8.1 Consent and withdrawal
Where the law requires consent before non-essential cookies are set — for example under the EU ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR, or the UK equivalent — that consent is requested before those cookies are placed, and refusing it does not prevent you from using the calculators. You can withdraw consent at any time by changing your choices in the cookie notice or by using the controls in Section 7, and withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
8.2 Legal bases
Depending on where you are, we rely on the following grounds: strictly necessary processing to operate and secure the Site; consent for analytics and advertising cookies where consent is required; and legitimate interests in keeping the Site working, secure, and funded.
8.3 California and similar rights
Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, the right to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because the Site does not sell personal information, there is no sale to opt out of; where advertising is enabled, you can limit interest-based advertising using the tools in Section 7.2.
8.4 Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour opt-out preference signals where we are legally required to, and we treat the browser-based Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to limit the sharing of personal information for advertising purposes. Because browsers implement “Do Not Track” inconsistently, we do not rely on it; the tools in Section 7 are more reliable.
8.5 Your rights over information held about you
Rights of access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, and portability are set out in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy. Requests can be sent to the address in Section 11.
9. How Long Cookies Last
Cookies set by the Site are listed with their typical lifetimes in Section 4. Third-party cookies persist for the period set by the provider concerned, which is stated in that provider’s own cookie notice. You can delete any cookie at any time through your browser, which ends its use immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the technologies we use change, when we add or remove a service, or when the law changes. When we do, we revise the effective date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we will say so on the page itself rather than leaving you to spot it. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact
Questions about this Cookie Policy, or about how a cookie on the Site works, can be sent to:
- Email: [email protected]
We do not provide a physical mailing address. Questions about how a calculator works are answered through the contact page or the same email address.
