How to Use This Tool

Formula and Logic

The calculator uses the following logic based on your selected split method:

• Equal Split: Each staff member receives (Total Tips ÷ Number of Staff). All staff get identical payouts regardless of hours or role.
• By Hours Worked: First, total all hours worked by staff. Each staff member’s payout is (Their Hours ÷ Total Hours) × Total Tips. This rewards staff who worked longer shifts.
• By Role Weight: Assign a weight to each role (e.g., Junior = 1x, Manager = 2.5x). Total all weights, then calculate each staff member’s payout as (Their Weight ÷ Total Weight) × Total Tips. This accounts for experience and responsibility.
• Custom Percentage: Each staff member’s payout is (Their Assigned Percentage ÷ 100) × Total Tips. You must ensure all percentages add up to 100% for accurate distribution.

All payouts are rounded to two decimal places (standard currency format). Total distributed will always equal the total tip amount, minus minor floating point adjustments.
